Naval Postgraduate School provides defense-focused graduate education, including classified studies and interdisciplinary research, to advance the operational effectiveness, technological leadership and warfighting advantage of the Naval service. The NPS research community has over 600 professor-researchers with decades of academic and military expertise, with over 1,600 mid-career resident students eagerly conducting mission-focused research. NPS provides experimentation zones for emerging technology, innovative research, and active collaborations with industry leaders.
NPS has 13 academic departments : Applied Mathematics , Computer ScienceDefense Analysis, Defense Management,Electrical and Computer Engineering,Information Sciences, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; Academic groups in cyber, energy, space systems, and undersea warfare; NPS has over a dozen research centers including ones for autonomous vehicles, electronic warfare, advanced manufacturing, turbopropulsion research, and cyber.
Much of our research can be broadly characterized as supporting the following warfighting development areas: Counter C5ISRT, Long Range Fires, Terminal Defense, AI, Contested Logistics, Maritime Domain Awareness, Autonomous Systems, Modelling and Simulation, and Energy.
